Stranger Things creator chooses radical solution to series biggest problem

The first half of Stranger Things Season 4 has been on Netflix for over a week. As fans of the sci-fi mystery series eagerly await the second half, which arrives in early July, the creative minds behind the project are already making plans for the next installment, the forms the grand finale.

Stranger Things ends with its 5th season on Netflix. This has been known for some time. In an interview with TV Line, series creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer give an exciting outlook: Season 5 of Stranger Things apparently awaits us a time skip – and there is a reason for that.

Stranger Things season 5: time skip to the finale

The child actors age at a rapid pace. Even now, the differences are startling when we compare the series opener to the most recent episodes. The original plan was therefore to shoot seasons 4 and 5 one after the other. As Ross Duffer explains, the implementation of this project was not possible.

I’m sure we’re going to jump in time. Ideally we would have [Staffel 4 und 5] shot back-to-back, but there just wasn’t a viable way to do it.

A time jump sounds at first like a radical solution to the problem. Last but not least, Stranger Things draws heavily on the Coming-of-age aspects including high school setting. At the same time, it could be quite exciting if we say goodbye to the characters at the end of their journey as young adults.

When does the Stranger Things finale start on Netflix?

A concrete start date for Season 5 of Stranger Things does not exist yet. For now, we can expect the remaining episodes of Season 4 on July 1, 2022. We shouldn’t expect the finale of the Netflix series before 2024.
