A few years ago, Netflix really embarrassed itself with the Death Note live-action movie. The adaptation of the cult manga changed too many elements of the template and squeezed the epic story into far too little time. The fans were rightly upset, and the Moviepilot community only gave the 2017 live-action movie an average rating of 4.8.

Apparently, that doesn’t stop Netflix from taking another look at Death Note. The Stranger Things creators are planning one new series to the Japanese manga and anime. Fans rightly react more than sceptically.

As Deadline reports, Stranger Things showrunners Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer have started their own production company called Upside Down Pictures. Several planned projects for Netflix include a new Death Note live-action series. This should clearly differ from the 2017 film.
