Strange scenes in Turkish derby – get away with controversial goal

It was in Monday’s rival meeting between the two big Turkish clubs that the strange scenes unfolded.

Besiktas were 3-1 down and the match was in its final minutes when Halilaj had an idea.

Much to the players’ surprise, the referee awarded a goal and at the same time handed out a yellow card to the home team for protesting the decision. According to the rule book, you cannot take the ball out of the goalkeeper’s hands when he has the ball under control.

However, the goal was not decisive as the match was blown away immediately afterwards with a final score of 3–2 to Fenerbahce.
