Stranded tourists can now leave Peru

About 4,500 tourists, mostly from the United States and Europe, have been stranded in various parts of the country as trains and flights were canceled due to the unrest that followed the ouster and arrest of the country’s former president, Pedro Castillo.

Several airports have been closed but on Friday the Cusco airport opened and the foreign tourists could start flying out.¨

– By Sunday at the latest, all stranded tourists will leave, Tourism Minister Luis Fernando Helguero told the state news agency Adina.
