The stop happened shortly after midnight after a lorry came to rest in the northbound direction on the E4/E20 at Hallunda.
“A number of cars have collided in the same place, but it is unclear whether it is due to the truck or whether it is the truck that tried to brake because the cars collided,” says Ola Österling, press spokesperson at the Stockholm Police.
No one was injured in the mass collision, but the police took the decision to stop all heavy traffic in the northern direction through Stockholm, which has caused the queues to become long.
“It’s primarily foreign trucks that are waiting now,” says Ola Österling.
At around 03:30 the police started trying to direct the heavy traffic through Stockholm with the help of a plow truck.
“We don’t yet know how it will go, but the trucks must drive behind the plow truck,” says Ola Österling.
Stockholm county has suffered several accidents during the night due to the heavy storm with several traffic accidents and fallen trees.
Several reports have also been received about shooting in Södertälje.
— It’s not about gunfire, it’s lightning that strikes. We have a heavy thunderstorm here right now, something that sounds like gunfire, says Ola Österling, who heard the lightning all the way to Nacka.
“I woke up from the lightning,” says Ola Österling, who recommends that you try to stay at home and not go out on the roads.
— If you don’t need to go out and go, don’t do it and adopt the parking regulations that apply so that the plow trucks can do their job.
