Storms felled trees over tents

About ten people are reported dead after a violent storm felled trees on camping tourists in Marij El in central Russia.

Another ten people have been taken to hospital, according to Russian authorities. The trees fell over tents set up by visitors at Lake Yaltzhik.

– According to the latest information, eight people died, says Yevgeny Maslov, mayor of the city of Yoshkar-Ola.

Marij El is a Russian region located along the northern bank of the Volga River. Yoshkar-Ola is its largest city.
