Storm Lilian moves in – alarm about fallen trees

Storm Lilian, which was named in Britain, has already hit Norway hard.
Now it is hitting western Sweden and SMHI has issued a warning for high flows.
A festival and traffic have been canceled and several places have been flooded.

The storm is expected to hit Denmark, the Netherlands and Great Britain more strongly than it will hit Sweden, but the rescue service is already under high pressure on its command center.

“The rescue service’s command center continues to handle a high number of calls. There are still a lot of calls connected to the weather. Fallen trees, obstacles on the way,” writes the rescue service.

During one hour, around 50 cases were dealt with, in which five cases were chosen to alert resources.

Trains and festivals are cancelled

SMHI has previously issued a yellow warning for high water levels between Gothenburg and Strömstad.

It was previously announced that trains between Strömstad and Gothenburg will be stopped during the evening until 12 o’clock on Saturday. In Gothenburg, the Sana Duri festival was also forced to cancel due to heavy rain, but then moved the festival indoors in two clubs.

Göteborgs-Posten reports that several trees have fallen in different parts of the city. A boat also broke loose in Göteborgsskårgård and was heading for the rocks on Brännö, but another boat came to the rescue and managed to catch it.

Park has flooded – concert in the danger zone

In Uddevalla, the Museum Park has flooded, reports Bohuslänningen. Pictures from the scene show flooded festival tents and how the area in front of the stage is filled with water.

– We are on site and all I know is that there is a hell of a lot of water, says Marcus Wedin at the rescue service.

During tomorrow, Thomas Stenström will play in the park.

– There is a fear that it won’t happen, says organizer Tobias Johansson to the newspaper.

The bus station in Uddevalla is also said to have flooded and there is a risk that several roads in central Uddevalla will have to be closed.
