Storm Ingunn causes power outages and obstructions in traffic in Jämtland County

In the municipality of Strömsund, 300 ela subscribers are without power. Obstacles have also arisen along some roads with fallen trees.

Several of the county traffic’s bus routes in Åre municipality are canceled due to severe weather.

Just after 7 o’clock, the Swedish Transport Administration began work to remove a tree that fell over road 615 between Rödön and Krogsgård.

During the day, SMHI has issued yellow warnings for the mountain areas in Jämtland and Härjedalen, and winds between 18 and 24 meters per second are expected on the Calf mountain.

Several fallen trees north of Sollefteå

North of Sollefteå near the border with Jämtland county, traffic has been affected due to fallen trees.

Clearing work is underway on road 331 between Ramsele and Edsele and will last until 9 o’clock. The same end time applies to road 346 between Junsele and Backe where trees partially block the road.

On road 90 from Överbodvill to Strand north of Sollefteå, a fallen tree blocks the road and will have a major impact on traffic. The clearing should last until 10 o’clock.

Buses in Västerbotten are canceled as a result of the storm

County traffic in Västerbotten has flagged that there may be disturbances in bus traffic in the western part of the county during Thursday with the risk of delays and canceled buses.

So far, Länstrafiken has announced that line 31 between Hemavan and Lycksele, line 320 between Vilasund and Tärnaby and line 321 between Boksjön and Tärnaby will be canceled throughout Thursday.

There is also a risk of delays along the Norrlandskusten line between Umeå and Haparanda as the speed of the vehicles is partially kept down for safety reasons.

E12 from Kåtaviken, in Storumans municipality, up to the national border at Umbukta is closed in both directions until 15:00 on Thursday.

Road 1079 at Marsliden is also closed until 11.00, due to severe weather.

The wind record in Sweden may have been broken in Stekenjokk

During the night of Thursday, Ingunn reached hurricane strength in Norway. When the storm moved in over the Swedish mountains, a wind strength of 48.6 meters per second was measured in average wind in Stekenjokk – which could be a new Swedish record.

During the night, a village wind of 58.7 meters per second was also measured in Stekenjokk, but that value must be checked manually.
