In the Philippines, 42 people lost their lives in the disasters caused by Storm Nalgae.
Nalgae, the 16th tropical storm to hit the Philippines this year, caused heavy rainfall, flooding and landslides in parts of the country, Straits Times reported.
Naguib Sinarimbo, one of the Filipino officials, said in a statement that heavy rains were effective throughout the night in the city of Maguindanao in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BARMM).
Sinarimbo stated that 10 people in Datu Blah Sinsuat and 3 people in Datu Odin Sinsuat, one of the regions of Maguindanao, lost their lives in floods and landslides.
42 PEOPLE DIE
Authorities announced that the search and rescue teams reached 24 more bodies in Datu Odin Sinsuat, and 5 people lost their lives in the city of Upi. It was shared that dozens of people are still missing in the disasters that led to the death of 42 people.
Local officials stated that those who live in low-lying villages and climb to the roofs of the houses to be protected from floods were rescued by the soldiers, police and bystanders.
In the Philippines, where an average of 20 storms and typhoons occur each year, more than 6,000 people died in the Haiyan Typhoon in 2013. (AA)
