The government is now moving forward with the proposal to stop all new establishment of religious independent schools – but the Social Democrats are not happy there. At a press conference today, the party presented a proposal that says no new denominational independent schools after the summer of 2024 and that existing ones may not expand their activities. The proposal has been sent for consultation.
Stakeholders are sharply critical of the proposal. Hillelskolan in Stockholm, which has a Jewish profile, reacts strongly.
– We live up to all requirements, yet they try to make it difficult for us, says Daniel Skavén Ruben, chairman of the association Hillel.
