Stop! Don’t send your monsters in Pokémon GO today and get more candy instead

In Pokémon GO, you can currently catch a lot of Pokémon thanks to GO Fest, but if possible, you shouldn’t send them out yet. We’ve summarized why the wait might be worth it for you here on MeinMMO.

Which Pokémon are we talking about? This weekend, on July 13th and 14th, 2024, the global GO Fest took place in Pokémon GO, where you could meet over 70 different monsters. In addition to familiar faces, such as Eevee or Charmander, there were also plenty of rare, regional, strong and legendary Pokémon to be found over the two days.

For the first time, you were able to encounter the legendary psychic Pokémon Necrozma in raids worldwide, which even dominated the game today, July 14, in its two forms, Morning Wings and Dusk Mane.

But the numerous catching and completing of raids has probably pushed the Pokémon bags of most players to their limits and now they need to be cleared out. However, it may be worth it for you to wait until Tuesday to send them. Below we will explain the advantage of this and how you can still sort things out now.

Collect extra candy when sending on Tuesday

Why wait to send? Even though most players want to finally get rid of the superfluous monsters to make enough space for new ones, you should be patient a little longer. The next spotlight hour will take place on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

In addition to the many Bithora spawns that are the focus of this event, you can also look forward to a sending bonus. You will receive double the amount of candy for sending Pokémon during the 60-minute short event. It doesn’t matter which Pokémon you send to the professor.

For which monsters is this particularly worthwhile? You should use this bonus especially for redundant Pokémon for which you are still missing candy or for which you generally do not get the opportunity to collect candy very often.

In addition to Necrozma and the Ultra Beasts, these include monsters whose evolutions are among the best attackers in Pokémon GO, such as Milza, Miniras, Gulmalat or Kapuno.

Can you get more candy? Yes, if you want more candy, you can trade your Pokémon with a friend’s beforehand. This way you will also get candy for the trade. You then simply sort out the superfluous monsters as usual and send them to the professor on Tuesday.

You have 100 trades available per day. During GO Fest, ticket holders can even make 6 special trades, one for legendary Pokémon or shiny ones. With a bit of luck, you can even secure a lucky trade this way.

Here’s how you can sort your Pokémon today

To sort your Pokémon before the spotlight hour and save time on Tuesday, you should use the tag and filter function in Pokémon GO. To do this, proceed as follows:

Create tags: If you haven’t created your own tag for sending Pokémon yet, you should do so now. To do so, click on the “Tags” tab in the top left corner of your Pokémon storage. There you have the option of creating a new category using the “+” to which you can assign your monsters.

If you now mark a monster in your Pokémon storage, you can enter the relevant category under the “Tag” option. If you want to use the candy bonus on Tuesday, all you have to do is open your tag, mark all the Pokémon in it and send them.

Sort Pokémon: To make it easier for you to sort your captured monsters, you should also use the game’s filter function. You can search for certain criteria in the search bar above your Pokémon storage. The best way to sort through them is to enter the following filters in the search bar:

  • 0*,1*,2*: This will only show you Pokémon that have a rating of zero, one or two stars. For example, if you only want to filter out Pokémon that have less than two stars, simply enter “0*,1*” instead
  • Age0: This filter will show you all the Pokémon in your collection that you caught within the last 24 hours. This gives you the option to only see Pokémon that you caught mostly during the second day of GO Fest.
  • Age1: If you put a 1 behind the term instead of a 0, you will be shown all the Pokémon that you caught 24 hours ago, but which are no older than 48 hours.
  • !dazzling: If you put a “!” in front of a term, you exclude it. In combination with the term “shimmering” or “costumed”, you can hide the corresponding monsters in your list.
  • By using an “&” you can also combine the search filters with each other, e.g. “0*,1*,2*&Age0”.
