The woman had previously made jewelery with moose poo and now thought of trying the same type of material, albeit from giraffe. But US Customs thought it was a really bad idea and seized the poo when the woman – she didn’t try to sneak it in – showed up in a box of it at the Minneapolis airport.

The woman was on her way home from Kenya and explained that the intention was to use the giraffe droppings for a necklace.

Customs backed down and burned the poo because letting it into the country could pose a risk of infection to humans and animals. In terms of animals, Kenya suffers from the notorious African swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease and several other serious infections.
