NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg clarifies that support for Ukraine is firm.
The statement comes after NATO Chief of Staff Stian Jenssen said on Tuesday that Ukraine may have to give up territory in exchange for NATO membership.
According to Stoltenberg, NATO’s attitude is unchanged. He emphasizes that it is up to Ukraine to decide when the time has come for possible negotiations with Russia, and what Ukraine is prepared to accept in that case.
Jenssen has backed away from the statement.
