Stockholm stops X-trafik’s Chinese bus model

Since the end of 2023, Chinese electric buses have been rolling in public transport in Gävleborg, which could be a security risk as there is uncertainty as to whether the manufacturers collect and disseminate sensitive information or not.

Tightened the procurement rules

Region Stockholm’s public transport company SL had time to put ten Chinese-made electric buses into service in 2019 before the procurement rules were recently tightened so much that it is now no longer possible.

    – Buses and batteries manufactured in China do not meet the requirements for social sustainability and human rights that we and other public transport authorities have started to set, says Claes Keisu.
