Stina Nilsson has left biathlon behind.
Nowadays, it is a long run for the 31-year-old.
And she has had a dream start to the new sport.
Ever since last spring when Stina Nilsson announced that she was leaving biathlon after four seasons to focus on a new sport, she has longed to make her debut. Now the 31-year-old has done his very first long-distance race – and it was an instant success.
Stina’s success
Over the weekend, all eyes were on Stina in the Klarälvsloppet. Many were curious to see what the Swede, who was once the world’s best sprinter, could do in her first long-distance race.

In the 90 kilometer long race on roller skis, Nilsson showed everyone that she is to be feared in the new sport. Because she broke everyone and won directly in the debut after a super sprint.
Nilsson’s words
Ski Classics star and Vasaloppet winner Emilie Fleten picked up the pace with a mile to go but Stina Nilsson refused to let go of her back. In the race, the former biathlete was completely superior and sprinted home to his very first long-distance victory.
– I am so very satisfied. It was real tactical driving from Ramudden. I have ridden and been focused all the way to be able to make counterattacks, says Stina to TV4 after the finish.
– If you have a day like today, it’s just tactically fun games to read and solve. This was the first time this summer that I have run with girls, have only trained with the Ragde guys and Emil (Nykvist, boyfriend). A great receipt.

The Norwegian Fleten could not oppose Nilsson at all at the end and had to settle for second place, two seconds behind the Swede.
– You feel that when you bring Stina into a race and know how she is in a sprint, I know that I might not have anything to oppose there, Emilie tells the TV channel.
– It is a special race and we will not go on Sunday trips like this until winter.
Third was last year’s winner Jenny Larssonwho was eleven seconds behind. Stina Nilsson was extremely proud of her contribution and shared her joy on social media.
“Finished with the nine miles on the Klarälvsloppet. A thousand thanks for all the cheers along the way,” she writes on Instagram, see the post below.
