Stina Nilsson’s future statement – now confirms what everyone suspected after the big fiasco winter: “I have decided”

Stina Nilsson has a miserable winter behind her.
Now she reveals her big future announcement.
– I have made up my mind, she says.

When Stina Nilsson chose to leave cross-country skiing for a venture into biathlon, the expectations were enormous. In cross-country skiing, Nilsson had reaped enormous success, and she was particularly successful in sprinting, something that should suit her well once the move was made to the new sport.

Big fiasco winter

But it has not gone at all as Nilsson, or anyone else, had hoped. This weekend saw the end of the World Cup season in biathlon, and Nilsson could then summarize a season full of disappointments. It was two years since Nilsson last stood on the podium in a World Cup competition, and this season she can look back at the best in 24th place.

During the winter, Stina Nilsson mainly competed in the IBU Cup, and she also did not get a place when the WC was decided. Nilsson’s 24th place finish came in the sprint races in Canmore last week, but that was followed up by a whopping eight(!) hurdles in the pursuit start, and a 53rd place finish. Stina Nilsson’s weak results have been a constant topic of discussion during the season, and many have doubted whether there will even be any continuation for the star, given how the development curve has gone over the past few years.

The message about the future

But now Stina Nilsson gives a clear message about her future, and it’s a message that doesn’t exactly surprise anyone, considering her big winner’s skull.

– I have decided. Next year, the championship is at a height and it is of course that I want to try to aim to do my best to give it a chance, she tells SVT.

Stina Nilsson said after the flop in the hunt start this weekend that the result triggers her to get better.

– Yesterday was a great day for me. Up like a sun, down like a pancake. And then I get really triggered. What can I do better and what job can I do for next year? Because I want to become a more stable shooter and this year the shooting hasn’t worked, she says, and continues:

– I kind of didn’t know when I got to the wall what to expect in terms of results. I would like to be able to feel that this is what I have, and this is what I need to do, and I am not there today.
