Stina Nilsson’s first words after the WC nob – and the beautiful support from the Swedish people: “It’s not funny…”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Stina Nilsson does not get the chance as a substitute in the WC.
Now the Swede breaks the silence with the first words about why.
“Grateful to be back on my feet again after a couple of days passed out on the couch,” she writes on Instagram.

When the big medal jump Elvira Öberg got sick this weekend, a free place opened up in the Biathlon World Cup. Votes were raised to Stina Nilsson was going to be called in as a substitute, but instead the Swedish national biathlon team chose to wait and not call anyone in.

Nilsson nodded

It wasn’t until a few days later that the decision came, and even then it wasn’t Stina who got the chance. Instead, Sweden called in Johanna Skottheim as a substitute if little sister Öberg cannot compete in the women’s relay on Saturday.

The national team captain John Luke then justified the decision with the fact that Nilsson was not quite 100 and had fallen ill. Without going into more detail about what the Swede actually suffered.

Stina’s own words

Then when the Swedish squad for the IBU Cup, the level below the World Cup, was released, Stina Nilsson’s name was also missing and the question marks grew even more. Now the 29-year-old breaks the silence and reveals in her own words what was the reason why she was overlooked as a replacement for the WC squad.
“You don’t get cocky from a stomach ailment. Grateful to be back on my feet again after a couple of days lying on the couch,” writes Stina in a post on Instagram, see below.
