There will be no Stina Nilsson in the Biathlon World Cup.
Now the Swede gives her first words after the announcement, which was no big surprise.
“Now on to the EC in Lenzerheide”, writes Stina on Instagram.
The Biathlon World Cup is just around the corner and on February 8 it is time for our Swedish skiers to chase the very noblest medals in the German Oberhof. In recent weeks, the big question mark has been around Stina Nilsson.
Nilsson poked
The Swede got a place in the Olympic squad last year and has gained a lot of confidence at the World Cup this season. But when the World Cup squad was announced this weekend, the news came that the 29-year-old will be kicked and will not be allowed to accompany the national team to Oberhof.

On the men’s side it will be Martin Ponsiluoma, Sebastian Samuelsson, Jesper Nelin, Peppe Femling and Emil Nykvist which goes to the 2023 World Cup.

Stina is celebrated
For Stina Nilsson, it will instead be competing for Sweden in the Biathlon European Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, next. The Swede’s first words after the WC match are therefore not so negative, but she looks forward to the challenge that a European Championship entails.
“Antholz proved to be a favorite even in winter. Now on to the EC in Lenzerheide, I hope you all keep your fingers crossed for me,” she writes with a first statement on Instagram.

Nilsson is also supported by all Swedes who follow her on social media. The post on Instagram has received almost 17,000 likes and many have commented to cheer and send positive shouts to the biathlete.
“Keeping my fingers crossed for you, like your approach and attitude even when things don’t go as planned,” writes one user.
“Cheers Stina, fight fight, I’m always cheering for you (with and against the wind),” writes another.
“It’s great for you to go to the European Championships so you get the opportunity for several competitions. Load and shut everything out and just be in yourself,” writes a third.
