Instead, she may return to competing in the IBU Cup again.
Now the Swede gives her first words after the tough poke.
Three years have passed since Stina Nilsson left cross-country skiing to start competing in biathlon. Then she had to start competing in the level below the World Cup, namely the IBU Cup.
Stina’s winter
At the end of her debut season, Stina then got the chance to compete at the World Cup for the very first time and last season the Swede was a regular in the Swedish team. This season, many therefore had high expectations that the 29-year-old would take further steps to reach the absolute top of the world.

But it has been a very tough winter for Nilsson, who could not live up to expectations at all and only managed a 33rd place as the best result at the World Cup. At the same time, criticism has grown against the Swede, who has been selected for all World Cup competitions this season.

Nilsson is poked
Today came the decisive announcement that Stina Nilsson will be kicked from the World Cup and will be allowed to return to competing in the IBU Cup again.
– Now we hope that she really takes that chance and finds her way back to the high level that we know she has, says the national team coach John Luke in an official statement.

Instead of going to Ruhpolding and competing at the World Cup, it will instead be Slovenian Bled and the IBU Cup which now applies to Nilsson.
– For Stina, it is very important to be able to compete a lot. She showed good riding form in Pokljuka and we have decided that it is best for her to stay there and run three individual races. There she has the chance to achieve good results and to combine both shooting and skating. Before Christmas she shot very well but didn’t get to ride. In the last week, the riding has been good but the shooting has not worked, says Lukas in the statement.

Stina Nilsson is already in Slovenia and now gives her first words after the tough poke. But she chooses to see it all calmly and instead offers an unexpected joke, in the form of a pun, in response.
“Dazzlingly beautiful here”, she writes on Instagram along with pictures of herself from Bled, see below.
