Stina Nilsson’s first words after the EC bronze – nice revenge after the harsh criticism: “Thank you for…”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Stina Nilsson has won her first international medal as a biathlete.
Now the Swede talks about the beautiful revenge after the tough criticism.
“Hooray for bronze today,” writes the 29-year-old on Instagram.

Criticism has been great against Stina Nilsson in the third season as a biathlete. The Swede didn’t make it work at all during the winter and lined up modest positions at the World Cup.

Tough for Nilsson

After the dreary shape curve that pointed downward, Nilsson was finally poked from the World Cup recently. It then also led to her being kicked from the national team squad for the Biathlon World Cup.

Instead, it was the European Championships in Lenzerheide for the Swede and a perfect way to find back to form and self-confidence again. But Stina had the worst imaginable start to the championship when she scored four misses in the last shooting of the EC premiere and finished in 47th place.

Stina’s revenge

After that nightmare start, she improved considerably during the weekend’s competitions and managed to take both a fifth place and a fourth place before Sunday’s final team relay. And it would be completely dramatic for the Swedish team when Stina Nilsson broke a stick in connection with the change from her teammate Tilda Johansson.

But despite the setback, the Swedish team manages to take home a bronze medal, which is Nilsson’s very first international medal as a biathlete. The European Championship bronze was of course an incredibly nice revenge for the Swede after the winter’s harsh criticism against her.
“What a bunch of sunshine skiers we are! Cheers for bronze today and thank you Lenzerheide for an incredibly fun week!”, writes Stina proudly on Instagram together with a picture of the entire team, see below.

The Swedish people are also extremely happy with Nilsson, who has had to struggle a lot during the beginning of his career as a biathlete. On Instagram, a lot of people congratulate the 29-year-old and hope that this will be the start of something really big, see the picture below.
“Hooray!”, writes the biathlon legend Magdalena Forsberg in a comment.
“Hey Stina, have a little extra fun with you today,” writes another in the comment field.
“Congratulations to the whole team and an extra big congratulations to you!”, writes a third.
