Stina Nilsson’s fine tribute to Mona Brorsson – says exactly what everyone is thinking after the veteran’s retirement from biathlon

Mona Brorsson has ended her career.
Now she is celebrated by Stina Nilsson – with the words that all of Sweden stands behind.

It was during the WC that one of our most popular athletes, Mona Brorsson, announced that this season will be her very last. This weekend, during the World Cup competitions in Canmore, it was time for her very last competitions.

Nice tributes

During Sunday’s mass start, Brorsson made a big impression, as she hit 19 out of 20 shots. Brorsson didn’t have the best recovery after the finish, when she suffered a prolonged cold with only days left until the start of the competition. But she still managed to finish in an impressive 20th place in her big farewell to biathlon.

When Brorsson crossed the finish line, her teammates were ready to pay tribute to her. All skaters from the national team had put on shirts with letters on them, which together formed “Thank you Mona”, and also a large banner, with the same text, had been printed. There were nice pictures that unfolded after the finish line, and it was just another proof of how much Brorsson meant to the national biathlon team over the years.

Stina’s wise words

When Brorsson announced that her career was soon over, several of her teammates were in tears. After her farewell this weekend, tributes poured in from different parts of the biathlon world, and even Stina Nilsson now supports Brorsson with some really nice words.

On Instagram, Nilsson has posted a picture of the tribute to Mona Brorsson, and makes a clever allusion to the world star Beyonce, who is often called “Queen B”. But in this case, it was Brorsson who got the nickname.

“That’s how a Queen B (rorsson) should be celebrated!”, writes Nilsson.

We will miss you, Mona!
