Stina Nilsson’s boyfriend Emil Nykvist surprises everyone with an unexpected announcement – goes behind the back of the national team: “Stina has influenced me”

Stina Nilsson has left biathlon for long-distance running.
Now the boyfriend Emil Nykvist also comes with surprising news.
And he chooses to go behind the back of the Swedish national team.

It was in April that Stina Nilsson announced that she is leaving biathlon after four years and switching to long-distance running instead. The Swede has signed a contract with Norwegian Team Ragde Charge and is betting against Ski Classics next season.

Nykvist’s new decision

Now Stina’s boyfriend is also coming Emil Nykvist with a surprising announcement. Last season he belonged to the A national team in biathlon, but next season Nykvist will also switch to long-distance running.

The article continues below.

The 27-year-old is ready for the newly started team Team GS8, which will compete in Ski Classics. Emil Nykvist also goes behind the back of the Swedish national team and the national team captain John Luke.
– I haven’t said anything to him, Nykvist tells the Norwegian site Langrenn.com.
– I get to do what I want in my spare time.

Stina has influenced

The Swedish national biathlon skier admits that he will not leave the sport without long-distance running mostly being a fun thing on the side. The reason for the new venture is to help the childhood friend Gabriel Stridwho has started up Team GS8.
– There will be no double investment. I do this for the sponsors (to the newly established team) and to do some long distance racing at the end of the season. But it is not something that will affect my investment in biathlon. I will do biathlon until the World Cup season is over. This is something I will do in April, instead of driving a snowmobile or something like that, says Emil in the interview.

Girlfriend Stina Nilsson has, however, had a big part in the decision to try long-distance running.
– It has definitely affected me. I never would have done it if she hadn’t switched to long distance running. But I am a biathlete and I will invest in biathlon until the World Cup season is over. This is just a fun thing, he says to the Norwegian site.
– Long-distance running is her thing, while for me it’s a hobby. For her, the long-distance venture is serious, so it will always work out best for her, and that’s the most important thing.
