Stina Nilsson reveals private messages with boyfriend Emil Nykvist – which were decisive during the tough time

Stina Nilsson has had to struggle in the World Cup.
At the same time as boyfriend Emil Nykvist chased his big chance.
Now she reveals the beautiful support for each other and the private text messages.

After last season’s big disappointment was Stina Nilsson full of revenge for this winter. She regained her place in the World Cup and was determined to disprove any critics after a solid pre-season with important shooting practice.

Nilsson poked

But this year’s start to the season has not lived up to expectations at all and Nilsson has only managed a 69th place and an 84th place in his two World Cup races so far. The 30-year-old has had a tough time since switching from cross-country skiing to biathlon.

Now another sting has hit Stina. On Tuesday, it was announced that the Swede will be moved down to the IBU Cup again and will not be allowed to accompany the rest of the national team to the Austrian Hochfilzen for the new World Cup weekend.

Nykvist back

Stina Nilsson’s boyfriend Emil Nykvist has also had to fight for his place in the World Cup and last weekend was pushed to the IBU Cup in Kontiolahti, Finland.
– I followed him on TV, it was so much fun. I am very happy for Emil. There are many ways we can support each other. We send a lot of messages to each other and write things like “you’re the best, no matter how things go”, Nilsson admits to Expressen.

Ideally, she would of course have taken her boyfriend to the World Cup competition in Östersund. But Nykvist got the chance to show off his best side and accounted for a seventh place and an eighth place this weekend.
– It was great fun that Emil succeeded so well in Kontiolahti, although I think it would have been fun to have him here on the relay. Now I sound like an expert. But I don’t think he lowered his chances after this, says Stina in the interview.

He didn’t do that either, because on the same day that Nilsson was tapped for the IBU Cup, the news also came that Nykvist has regained his place in the Swedish World Cup team. Therefore, another weekend awaits when the biathlon pair are apart for different forms of competition.
– Of course we are aware of the IBU Cup, but everyone must understand the difference between the IBU Cup and the World Cup. It is enough to look at the journey times. We’ll see how we do going forward, says the national team captain John Luke to the evening newspaper about the situation where the riders alternate between the World Cup and the IBU Cup.
