Stina Nilsson is in great shape.
Now she is being widely praised for the new success.
“What a great start to the new year,” she writes.
Stina Nilsson has not received the development that she, or anyone else, had hoped for since she left cross-country skiing behind for a venture into biathlon. During the summer, she made major changes in her training, and she also had to be disease- and injury-free.
In great shape
But it has not yielded results, at least not at the beginning of the season. Nilsson had despaired badly on both the shooting range and in the track when she got the chance in the World Cup during the beginning of the winter, and it didn’t take long before she – just like last season – was poked and instead had to bet on the IBU Cup, the sub-cup of the World Cup.
But now Nilsson seems to have found his form, to say the least. The star had finished third twice in her last three races while on Christmas and New Year’s leave. And on Thursday, she showed that the form was not a perishable product. In yesterday’s distance race, Nilsson admittedly started with two misses in the first standing shooting, but she then made all the shots, and finished with a total of 18 out of 20 hits on the fence.
Highly praised
It was enough all the way to a new third place, and thus Nilsson’s third podium in the IBU Cup in the last four competitions. Nilsson was also only 3.5 seconds from the winner, the German Julia Kink. A statement of form from Nilsson, and considering how she has performed in the last month, it is only a matter of time before she gets another chance in the World Cup again.
Nilsson herself was satisfied with the result, and on Instagram she shared a group picture with the squad from the IBU Cup, and the text:
“No, but what a great start to the new year”.
Nilsson’s followers were not slow to send their congratulations to Nilsson.
“Congratulations! You really deserved it!”, writes one.
“Many congratulations!”, writes another.
“So much fun. Congratulations!”, writes a third.
