Still sluggish for the car trade – more people are buying used

The entire car industry has had a tough time with reduced revenues and customers who prefer to buy used cars. In total, new car registrations in Sweden fell by six percent compared to the first half of the year, according to Mobility Sweden.

At Serrander Bil in Eskilstuna, during the first half of the year, they have lost approximately 20 percent of their sales compared to last year.

– New sales have dipped, but used cars sell better, says car dealer Daniel Serrander.

Most bankruptcies in the country

But bankruptcies are also increasing. The auto industry is the most competitive so far this year, according to the credit bureau Credit safe.

During the past six months, the number of bankruptcies among car dealers has increased sharply. Compared to last year, bankruptcies in the car trade have increased by 76 percent.
