Börje Salming has left a big void behind him.
Big brother Stig Salming now opens up about the tough times after his little brother’s passing.

Then assembled legendary teams for Tre Kronor and the Toronto Maple Leafs will meet in Brynäs home arena Monitor ERP arena under the name “Game for Börje”. The purpose of the match is to collect as much money as possible for Börje Salming’s ALS foundation to support research into the terrible disease that destroys so many lives and families.

The big names
On Wednesday, the lineups for both teams were released and there are really big names that will gather on the ice to play for Börje. Three Kronor legends who Peter Forsberg, Nicklas Lidström, Mats Sundin and several others have agreed to play.

Big Brother Stig Salming gets the honor of taking a seat in the coach’s booth for Tre Kronor’s team together with the coaching icons Curre Lundmark and Bengt-Åke Gustafsson.
– We will be a good team in the booth. It’s a well-deserved team, you can safely say that. Most have played in the NHL and it will be very interesting. We will try to win this match, says “Stigge” in the TV broadcast of Brynäs.

Stig’s tough time
Salming, together with Brynäs IF, has been the initiator of the tribute match for Börje and was recently in Canada to get the last details. The hope is now that it will be a memorable evening for everyone involved.
– It is very honorable and nice of Brynäs to stand up in this way and implement this now. We look forward to this being a good thing for Börje’s fund and to collecting as much money as possible for the ALS fund, he says in the interview.
Stig Salming had an incredibly tough end to last year where first Börje Salming and then the mother Karin Salming went away shortly after. The loss has been great and the feelings difficult for the 75-year-old who had to say goodbye to his closest family.
– It is difficult. I’ve been taking it day by day and have had some nice mixing, I was in Canada last week. I have to try to fight my way through this in a reasonable way, simply take new steps, he says with emotional words and is then asked how he feels today.
– In any case, I feel decent. I have just come home from Kiruna after the last funeral of my mother. And now we hope that it will be a little more in the nicer direction, I hope.
