Steven Spielberg loves the best zombie horror of the year

Video game adaptations can really work, that was clear with The Last of Us. The serial adaptation of the horror game of the same name lived from its lively, lovingly told characters and is considered one of the best series of the year. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, The Last of Us producer Craig Mazin revealed that he received an email full of praise from Spielberg:

He liked the whole show but especially Episode 3. It was great. I shared [die Mail] with everyone who worked on the series.

The Last of Us centers on the journey of a gruff Joel (Pedro Pascal) and his young protégé Ellie (Bella Ramsey) as they try to survive in the post-apocalyptic world after a deadly epidemic. But Episode 3 is a kind of digression.

The episode is almost entirely about the unlikely couple Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett) who briefly meet and fall in love in the midst of the murderous zombie world. Their relationship is accompanied over the years, which courageously counters the constant deadly threat with their own love. At the latest at the extremely emotional end brought tears to tears for many The Last of Us fans.

It is not known whether Steven Spielberg also had to cry. Hopefully, feedback from the master director and countless fans will encourage Mazin and co-producer Neil Druckmann to bring similar moving moments to the series in the future.
