Making a written statement on the report, UN Special Rapporteur David Body stated that the management of global environmental pollution risks has failed since the start of the fight against Kovid-19.

Body states that while Covid-19 has caused 5.9 million deaths so far, environmental pollution caused by pesticides, plastic and electronic waste causes at least 9 million people to die prematurely every year, and environmental pollution is more deadly than Covid-19. recorded.
Emphasizing that the fight against Covid-19 should not put the environmental pollution agenda into the background, David Body stated that the use of raw materials such as polyfluoroalkyl and perfluoroalkylin, which are used in household products such as Teflon cookware and cause cancer, should be banned.
The UN Environment Program’s report on environmental pollution will be discussed at the UN Human Rights Council’s meetings next month.
