Linn Grant became the first female winner in Scandinavian Mixed. One of the hosts, the Swedish star Henrik Stenson, was in the lead for a long time but lost in the end.
– In terms of play, I did not get a really good start today, but I do not think it would have mattered if I am to be honest, he says.
Grant was nine strokes ahead of Stenson, who finished in a split second with shots by Marc Warren.
– It had been required that she put in a defender and I played really well so that I could get involved in this, Stenson states and continues to praise Grant’s game:

Grant was another 15 strokes ahead of the nearest female competitor in the competition, the Italian Carolina Melgrati, but the men’s players also had nothing to oppose the 22-year-old.

In addition to Linn Grant, several Swedish girls are on the rise. Maja Stark and amateur Ingrid Lindblad for example. The latter was far ahead in the results list in the US Open this week.
– It looks promising for Swedish women’s golf when those girls fill up. It feels like the future is secure, says Stenson.
