During Saturday morning, the emergency services in Örebro received several calls about a strong odor.
The calls come from, among other things Frövi, Glanshammar, Örebro, Hällabrottet and Hallsberg.
– That’s right. We have received several alarms about a stench in the county, says an operator at SOS Alarm who is responsible for Bergslagen’s rescue service.
According to several Facebook users, the stench is similar to cat piss and ammonia.
According to SVT Örebro, the calls should have mainly come from places near Fortum’s facility in Kvarntorp.
The emergency services have been out during the morning to locate the cause of the smell.
Emergency services: “Harmless”
– One of our forces has been around and driven and they say that it is a typical smell coming from the Fortum waste facility in Kvarntorp. At the same time, we have weather that settles like a lid and keeps the air at ground level, says Charlotte Winberg, operations leader at the rescue service to the channel.
According to SOS Alarm, the calls have mainly come from places near the facility.
– It’s nothing dangerous. People call and are worried, but we have been out and investigated this and have no indications that it is dangerous, says Charlotte Winberg.
The emergency services do not believe they have any more information about the stench during the day.
