(Finance) – The Italian-French group Stellantis closed the month of January 2024 with car registrations in Italy up by approximately 13%, with a market share close to 35%. However, the performances at the level of individual brands were different from each other, as emerges from Dataforce’s processing of data from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. In the entire market, 142,406 new cars were registered (13,729 more than in the same month of 2023, with a growth of 10.67%).
Fiat registered 16,087 cars, down 11.05% compared to the 18,085 in January 2023. However, it firmly maintains the lead in the ranking despite having even lost its leadership on the Italian market last December, overtaken, albeit by a few units, by Volkswagen. The Wolfsburg giant slipped to fourth place in January, with a more negative result than that of Fiat: -14.64%. The increasingly surprising Dacia took pride of place on the podium, recording an increase of 19.1%. At a very short distance (10,091 license plates compared to 10,326 for Dacia) it positioned Toyota (+9.52%).
If Fiat’s performance is not exciting, Stellantis consoles itself with the more than good results of Peugeot (fifth, with an excellent +58.72%), Jeeps (sixth, +10.87%) e Citroën (seventh, +39.91%). Very good too Opel (twelfth, +52.56%, but with many zero km), good Lance (fifteenth, +9.3%, also very unbalanced on car registrations, awaiting the imminent launch of the new Ypsilon). Also Alfa Romeowith 1,938 new license plates (+8.39%) continues its recovery.
Among the negative results, Dataforce reports Ford (ninth, -3.92%), Renault (eleventh, -14.31%) and Mercedes, a little behind (-30.14%). Among the best performers, Audi (eighth, +41.58%), BMW (tenth (+40%), Nissan (+59.5%), Suzuki (+43.93%), MG and DR with a volume of registrations doubled compared to the previous January.
