(Finance) – “After Mirafiori, Cassino and Pratola Serra, meetings took place today in the factories of Melfi, Pomigliano D’Arco, Termoli, Cento and Verrone in which Stellantis declared a total of 1,087 redundancies. In particular there will be 500 in Melfi, 424 in Pomigliano, 121 in Termoli, 30 in Cento, 12 in Verrone. In this way, between yesterday and today’s meetings, a total of 3,597 exits were reached. Fiom-Cgil did not sign the union agreement which is leading to incentivized exits in Stellantis. The industrial divestment plan of Stellantis from Italy is increasingly evident, masked by the need to cope with the transition.” This is what he states in a note Samuele Lodi, Fiom-Cgil national secretary and mobility sector manager.
“The situation is proving to be even more serious than what we had already reported and which, among other things, led to the declaration of a united strike on 12 April in Turin. The Government must absolutely intervene in view of next week’s meetings. Stellantis is demonstrating that it wants to continue its strategy of emptying the factories and disengaging from our country – states the Fiom manager –. The objectives of the automotive tables at Mimit next week are significantly weakened. Incentives, concessions and public resources cannot be granted to a company that has no intention of investing in Italy: of not guaranteeing adequate production volumes or factories, of not investing in research and development and of not protecting the occupation. Fiom-Cgil, coherently, is not even signing the agreements on redundancies at a territorial level. There’s no more time to waste. It is urgent that a meeting be convened at Palazzo Chigi with the Prime Minister and the CEO of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares. It’s time for everyone to assume their responsibilities to save the automotive industry in Italy.”
