Armand Duplantis has said that he can beat several athletics stars in a completely different discipline.
That causes Stefan Holm to react.
“Personally, I believe more in another option,” he writes.
Armand Duplantis is the best pole vaulter of all time, with several world records and heavy championship titles to his name. There are many reasons why Mondo is so incredibly successful in the sport, but one given factor is spelled out by his speed. Armand Duplantis has himself stated that he is a ferocious sprinter, and his speed during the approach gives him a huge advantage over the competition.
Holm fights back
Armand Duplantis does not directly doubt himself how fast he really is. He has previously said that he is a full-fledged sprinter, and even so much so that he has made several challenges against other athletics stars at the distance of 100 meters. Last year, Duplantis challenged superstar Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who is one of the world’s best sprinters, in a 100m event. Recently, Mondo was also challenged by the Norwegian world star Karsten Warholm, the fastest 400 meter hurdler of all time.
Both Mondo and Warholm have said that they want to get through a duel, and Duplantis has also been convinced that he will win the competition. But now one person is fighting back – and it’s none other than Stefan Holm. On Twitter/X, Holm answered a question from SVT Sport, about which of Duplantis or Warholm would win the duel. The answer: None.
“Personally, I believe more in a third option: We will never find out because it will never happen. (Due to risk of injury and other things),” he writes.

“An even bigger problem…”
In the comments section, Holm continues to state that it will never happen, as the risk of injury is simply too great. When followers discuss how quickly the two stars had made it to the hundred meters, Holm answers briefly:
“And I’m guessing we’ll never see them meet at 100m”.
Armand Duplantis has only raced once and not won this season. It was during a race in Monaco, where Mondo had problems with a cramping thigh. Warholm has also had the same problem – which makes Holm believe that a duel between the two will never happen.
“Both have had problems with their hamstrings in the last year. Explosiveness is one thing, running 100 meters at top speed requires a sprint endurance that I suspect Mondo lacks and a top speed that I suspect Warholm might struggle with. Ergo: Harmful…”, he writes.
Holm then continues:
“Then it is probably an even bigger problem to find a time for the race. That won’t happen this year. Not before the Olympics next year either. After the Olympics? Yes, maybe, but then there are Diamond League galas and so on.”
