Steam summer hit 2022 ends content drought

V Rising wowed its buyers on Steam in the early summer of 2022. Up to 150,000 concurrent players were on the servers, for a couple of weeks it was a big hit. However, the survival adventure in early access had content issues. The first major DLC is intended to remedy the situation.

With V Rising, a survival adventure came onto the market that brought a breath of fresh air with its setting and isometric camera view. It exploded on Steam but didn’t last long. The release content was quickly exhausted, updates fixed problems and didn’t bring any new content.

This will change with the DLC “Secrets of Gloomrot” in May 2023. There is no specific date yet, but a good year after the Steam release, V Rising is getting a large and free update.

What’s in Secrets of Gloomrot? The developers have been diligently publishing information about the DLC in recent weeks. In the latest blog, those responsible show the complete list of contents and go into more detail about the construction system (via blog.stunlock.com).

Here is the list of planned features. You will always find a link to the English blog entry that goes into more detail about the content:

  • New weapons and skills
  • The existing map should be more beautiful
  • New areas and points of interest
  • Progression system changes
  • PvE & PvP improvements
  • Complete new biome with new enemies, factions and V-Bloods
  • Expansion of existing POIs, such as Quartz Mine and Glass Factory
  • A new magic school
  • QoL improvements
  • Trading post for the silver coins
  • New jewel system lets you customize spells
  • Revision of the complete magic system
  • Legendary Weapons
  • “Territories” replace the old claim system for player territories

    What happens to the build system? Builders get their money’s worth. The style of V Rising already allowed for extraordinary buildings at the time of release. However, they were limited to one floor and therefore rather simple in construction.

    With Secrets of Gloomrot you can, among other things, carpenter new floors on your castle. There will be different stairs, railings for balconies and also short-distance teleporters, with which you can quickly get through your castles.

    In addition, torches and other light sources in the castle can be adjusted in color. If the V Rising construction system was too simple for you, the new DLC should also appeal.

    V Rising is an exciting survival adventure with its own charm – in gameplay and setting. On Steam, the game convinced 88% of its raters and the content supply is finally getting going.

    The developers have already announced two more major updates, but without further information.
