What kind of update is this? Sons Of The Forest has been in Early Access on Steam for a year, after the game was postponed several times. Yesterday, exactly one year after the release of the “Early Access” version, the game received the long-awaited update 1.0 with over 250 changes, improvements, bug fixes and new features.
One feature is particularly exciting; so far you have been able to play through Sons Of The Forest in its early form and get to the end. Now the developers have added a new, alternative ending.

Players can experience a new ending
What’s in the update? The update reads as a long list full of ideas, wishes and improvements that players of the game have been waiting for a long time. The new ending, which players can choose and which we won’t go into in detail for spoiler reasons, should make fans as happy as an old friend who now appears in the game.
We’re talking about little young Timmy from the first part of The Forest, who is also set to music by Shawn Ashmore. We know it from various films such as X-Men: Future is Past, Acts of Violence or the series The Boys.
In the new update, you will also be observed by Jianyu helicopters that will circle over your bases to see what you are doing there. In general, the patch notes read very positively; they contain many changes that are intended to improve the gameplay and make the atmosphere even more exciting.
What changes to the gameplay? Many details of the gameplay also change. But the most interesting thing might be the food and drink, which you will have to pay more attention to in the future. The developers have installed a new system that will make you sick if you drink unfiltered water or eat spoiled food.
The game’s story has also been expanded even further than the optional ending. For the new version 1.0, the developers recommend starting a new save game so that you can experience all the features. Old savegames are compatible, but do not represent some innovations.
