The German MMORPG Albion Online starts its Asian servers with “Albion East”. They are globally accessible and very popular: the number of players on Steam is increasing rapidly.
According to the SteamDB site, Albion Online on Steam is experiencing higher player counts than ever before. The all-time peak is now 22,800 players – the MMORPG set this record for the number of players two days ago.
In the last 24 hours, the number of active players was only slightly lower. Before the launch of Albion East, the number of players per day was only around 6,000.
Since the MMORPG offers its own client outside of Steam and is also available for mobile devices, the actual number of players is probably higher.
Start in Asia doubles as a fresh start server for everyone
What is Albion East? Servers located in Singapore open their doors with Albion East. However, this does not only apply to players from Asia, but globally. It is therefore a new, fresh version of Albion.
Players can start fresh there, like with Fresh Starts of MMORPG New World in November. Economically everything in Albion is regulated by players, which is why everything in the economy is also at the beginning – exciting times in the MMORPG.
Albion East starts with a reduced world size. The developers want to keep “the competition between the players and the general player density at an optimal level”, as they write in their announcement. Later they want to provide more regions.
Twitch Drops will also be available from March 15th to March 29th. Those who watch for several hours will receive rewards – exclusive chests containing brand new items.
Big rush on the MMORPG leads to problems
Under the post on Steam, many players complain about problems. Especially a high ping is a problem if you want to start Albion East and live in Europe or America. Even people from Australia complain about high pings.
There are also queues to log in as so many players are interested in Albion’s Fresh Start. Some have over 5,000 people before they can finally play (via MMORPG.org).
With a premium subscription you can get into the MMORPG much faster. Fans are also furious about the high prices of the Founder Packs that could be purchased at the launch of Albion East (via Reddit). This gives you clear advantages when restarting the MMORPG.
What do you think of Albion East? Have you already played on the Asian servers and also had problems with your ping or long queues? Or did everything go smoothly for you? Do you own a Premium subscription or Founder’s Pack? Write it to us in the comments here on MeinMMO!
