Steam Deck: what is it?

Steam Deck is both a portable console and one ” computer pocket”, an all-in-one device designed by the company Valve. While fans of consoles and computer often mock each other, Steam Deck is Valve’s handheld, combining the best of both worlds and allowing you to take almost your entire Steam library with you.

Announced by Valve in 2021, its release was originally scheduled for December of the same year. But due to global supply chain issues, the release of the Steam Deck has been postponed to February 25, 2022. This date is however only a guideline, many orders will not be fulfilled until later due to a limited stock.

Not only does the Steam Deck allow you to carry and enjoy your Steam library wherever you go, but this console also has a number of impressive features. It is powered by SteamOS, can run the operating system of your choice, including Windows 11 and linux Ubuntu, and she can do dual-boot to run two different operating systems. That’s already pretty impressive, considering it’s a portable device, without considering all of its other capabilities.

As the nintendo-switchthe Steam Deck is also connectable to a TV or monitor via a connection USB Type-C. Valve plans to release its own dock, but for now, any USB Type-C compatible dock will work. The Steam Deck should be compatible with all standard PC peripherals, from controllers and flight sticks to keyboards and smile. You can even use listeners Bluetooth.

As for the hardware, the console will be powered by a custom AMD chip called Aerith SoCswhich should be equipped with a CPU Zen2 with four cores and eight threads and a GPUs AMD RDNA 2. This chip should provide a decent gaming experience even on AAAs like Control while allowing the device’s 40 watt-hour battery to last up to seven to eight hours of gameplay.
