Barotrauma is a co-op game and submarine simulator on Steam that takes you on a spooky scuba diving tour. Work together to survive in the depths of the ocean or make life difficult for each other.
Barotrauma combines survival horror with RPG elements. You are part of a submarine crew either alone or with friends in co-op. Together you will discover what is hidden in the depths of the ocean and complete missions.
You can operate complex systems and equipment of the submarine, such as sonar, motors and pumps and have to defend yourself against hostile monsters in tactical real-time battles.
The game can also be played on the Steam Deck, but you have to make some settings yourself. The font size is very small and you have to adjust it manually in the menu.

Discover a dark underwater world full of dangers
What is the gameplay like in Barotrauma? You work with your crew to keep the submarine running. Take care of navigating the vehicle, repairing leaks and crafting items.
The game aims to “follow in the footsteps of games like FTL: Faster Than Light, Rimworld, Dwarf Fortress, and Space Station 13,” according to the developers (via Steam). It combines teamwork, betrayal and alien deep sea monsters with a gritty 2D environment.
However, you are not alone in the depths of the sea. Ghastly alien monsters dwell in the water and can quickly put an end to your journey. Fight the creatures or flee from them. Not only can you create your own submarine, you can also create your own deep-sea creatures in the editor.
But even inside your submarine you have to keep your eyes open at all times. There could be a traitor among your crew members. So always stay vigilant!
You can play Barotrauma both in single player and together in online co-op with a crew of up to 16 people. Choose the position on deck you would like to fulfill from 6 different classes:
Through procedurally generated maps and missions as well as different game modes, the game wants to create a high level of replayability.
