Inflation, measured as CPI, rose to a new peak of 12.3 percent on an annual basis in December, according to Statistics Norway. It is the highest level since February 1991. In November, inflation was 11.5 percent.

The expectation according to Bloomberg’s compilation was an inflation of 12 percent.

According to the CPIF measure, where interest costs are excluded, inflation amounted to 10.2 percent. It is the CPIF that the Riksbank looks at when they make decisions about the interest rate.

Here, expectations were 9.8 percent.
