Statement on Turkiye from the USA We are in close

White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby evaluated the latest situation in Syria and Turkey’s fight against YPG/PKK in the press briefing he held via teleconference.

Kirby stated that Turkey has “the right to defend its citizens and lands against terrorist attacks” and emphasized that its NATO ally “has been exposed to such terrorist attacks in the recent past.”

Referring to Turkey’s legitimate concerns about the fight against terrorism, Kirby said, “We recognize that they have this right, and they (Türkiye) are an important NATO ally.” he said.

Kirby stated that they are in close contact with Ankara regarding the latest situation in Syria and the YPG/PKK issue.

THEY WILL CONTINUE SUPPORT TO YPG

On the other hand, Kirby argued that the United States will continue its support to the terrorist organization YPG/PKK and DAESH militants are in question.

Kirby said, “As the United States, we have interests in the fight against DAESH, and this means partnership with the Syrian Democratic Forces (YPG/PKK), and this partnership will continue.” made his assessment.

Regarding the clashes between Syrian National Army (SNA) elements and YPG/PKK terrorists in Manbij, the US advisor stated that he could not confirm exactly what the latest situation in the region was, but that they were in contact with both Turkey and YPG/PKK.

“WE ARE WORRIED”

Kirby noted that they are also concerned that Turkey and SNA will be distracted from the fight against DAESH and the large number of DAESH members who are still in prison, due to their operations against YPG/PKK.
