Statement on Armenia from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev We are

The 6th World Intercultural Dialogue Forum, held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, started with the official opening ceremony held at the Heydar Aliyev Center. Guests from various countries of the world, Azerbaijani state and government officials, members of parliament, representatives of religious communities and diplomatic representatives attended the opening ceremony.

“NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES”

In his speech, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan is working very actively for peace and has taken the initiative to start peace agreement negotiations with Armenia. President Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan is currently continuing negotiations between the two countries and that these negotiations are being carried out by Azerbaijan.

“WE ARE MOVING TOWARDS PEACE”

Stating that Azerbaijan and Armenia are one step closer to peace, Aliyev said, “After we completely regained our territorial integrity and sovereignty in September last year, we were subjected to political attacks by Armenia’s foreign guarantors. Despite this, we still offered peace. Now we are actually moving towards peace in a positive way, the borders have started to be determined. Not only the determination of borders, but also the determination of borders has begun. We achieved this without any intermediaries from either country. “This shows once again that an intermediary is not necessary for us,” he said.

“THEY WANT TO FLOW THAT FIRE”

Criticizing the countries that want to intervene in the peace process with Armenia, Aliyev said, “They want to intervene in our region for their own personal, political and economic interests. They want to add fuel to that fire. We will not allow this in the South Caucasus, we will not give it the opportunity. After thirty years of conflict “Armenia also clearly understands that we want peace in the South Caucasus and peace can only be achieved in this region through normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he said.

Azerbaijani President Aliyev also touched upon the United Nations Climate Summit (COP29), which Azerbaijan will host in November, and stated that Azerbaijan plays the role of a bridge thanks to its country’s geographical location and interaction with European institutions.
