The following statements were made in the statement made by the company:
Today, there were news on some internet news sites that the Huawei AppGallery application contains applications containing malicious software.
AppGallery’s built-in security system quickly identified the potential risk in these apps. We are currently actively working with all affected developers to fix issues with the apps. Once we confirm that the apps are completely clean, consumers will be able to download and use them again.
Protecting network security and user data privacy is our priority at Huawei. To ensure that we meet this commitment, we follow the feedback of all our business partners in detail and continue to use the most advanced and innovative technologies to protect the privacy of our users.
Currently, there are no apps in AppGallery that contain the allegedly malicious SDKs. HMS services and APIs do not have such a problem. We advise all users to uninstall the relevant apps from their devices as soon as possible if they have been installed. All Huawei smartphones come pre-installed with “Phone Manager”, which regularly scans apps for malicious codes and provides an additional layer of protection by sending risk alerts to users when the device is idle.
Huawei works closely with global cybersecurity firms such as Avast, one of the leading companies in malware and threat detection.
Fighting malware is a dynamic process where we are constantly discovering new threats and ways to counter them. Going forward, Huawei will continue to implement a strict four-stage review process and adhere to its security policies to ensure users’ application security.
