An employee of the Swedish Migration Agency is suspected of having stolen a sandwich at Arlanda airport. Now the man risks being prosecuted for the incident – and losing his job, reports SVT Nyheter Gävleborg.
The suspected crime occurred in May in connection with a deportation from the airport. Then the man allegedly took a sandwich – which cost SEK 79 – from a cafe without paying.
The Migration Agency employee did not pay, despite colleagues reporting the matter.
After the man’s boss became aware of the matter, an investigation was launched. The Migration Agency’s internal investigator believes that the incident is very damaging to trust in the authority and that the man should be fired if he is convicted of a crime.
They consider it aggravating that the man appeared in uniform.
The official has acknowledged what happened.
