(Finance) – “The relationship between industrial policy and state aid is very much alive. In the recent past, unfortunately also due to dramatic events, Italy was one of the countries that benefited the most of exceptions to the prohibition of state aid. However, it is important that this situation does not become a rule”.
Thus expressed the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance Federico Freni during the conference “Industrial policy and state aid, today” promoted in Rome by the Centro Studi Americani.
“Abuse of state aid to increase the competitiveness of the European industry – it has continued – risks of weaken the single marketcreate large gaps between Member States, ed trigger a trade war between the US and the EU with unpredictable consequences. It would be necessary to work towards strengthening the Atlantic dialogue and European economic policy, through a review of governance, especially in terms of the budget, and tax harmonisation.”
