The site now offers shelter to 152 refugees, most of them single young asylum seekers and recently also following travelers. That number could grow to 175 if the shelter continues to function properly. At the same time, COA wants to develop plans with the local housing association Omthuis to also offer Baarn home seekers a place. It is not yet clear how many homes will be built, but according to Alderman De Vries it must be “in proportion to the number of refugees” and be attractive to local starters.
