With 18 holes left to play, the 22-year-old Swede is tied for second place, one stroke behind leader Allisen Corpuz.
The contest will be decided over three rounds, after Hurricane Nicole forced organizers to cancel Thursday’s play. Stark opened the competition with a round of 68, but on Saturday it really loosened up, and in the end it was eight birdies and one bogey for 63 strokes. The crowning achievement was a chip in the cup for birdie on the penultimate hole.
Pernilla Lindberg, who was the best Swede after Friday, had a less successful Saturday with 71 strokes and is eight strokes off the lead.
This weekend’s competition is the last before next weekend’s tour finale, where the top 60 on the LPGA tour qualify. Anna Nordqvist is 59th and may need a good result, she is tied for 13th, five strokes behind the American Corpuz.
