Starfield surprises players in a bounty hunt – Shows notes from criminals who wanted to be good people

Starfield surprised a player with a bounty hunting mission that had an unexpected twist.

In addition to a surprisingly short main story, Starfield offers lots of side quests, random events and other activities that should keep players busy for countless hours. The numerous role-playing activities also include various pinboards on which missions are posted.

On these mission boards you can find tasks such as exploring certain planets or finding a special ecosystem. There are also some bounty hunts in which players are supposed to eliminate criminals.

Such a bounty hunt should now surprise a player with an unexpected twist.

What kind of mission was that? As Reddit user “thefluffyburrito” wrote on the platform, he was playing a bounty hunting mission in which he was supposed to dismantle a mining operation run by the Spacers (via Reddit).

In Starfield, spacers are independent and disorganized criminals who make space unsafe in small groups. They often pillage and occupy abandoned outposts and are hostile to outsiders.

The Spacers are rarely interested in aggressive raids.

Why was the player surprised? The player shows no mercy throughout the mission, taking out the spacers in turn. After defeating the final opponent, he found the keys to the Spacer’s living quarters on him.

He wondered why Spacers had built living quarters in an abandoned mine and continued to investigate the site. Shortly thereafter, he came across a small facility, whose door he opened and then discovered some notes from the Spacers.

The Spacers apparently intended to make a legal living with the mine and leave the criminal life behind. According to the Reddit user, the notes included phrases like:

  • “I can’t wait for us to get this old mining operation up and running so we can really get going.”
  • “I’m so glad we’re finally not the bad guys anymore.”
  • The player struck down people who no longer wanted to be evil or criminals. This wasn’t a criminal Spacer mining operation, but honest work – or at least an attempt.
