Will Starfield have multiplayer? No, no multiplayer mode is planned for Starfield. There will also be no co-op mode. Starfield is designed entirely as a single player game.
Are there multiplayer mods for Starfield? Those responsible at Bethesda have announced that Starfield should be a kind of “modder’s paradise”. After the release on September 6th, projects dealing with a multiplayer mod are likely to emerge.
There seems to be a lot of interest in it, as Starfield offers many similarities to MMOs at first glance. Colleague Benedict Grothaus said after the first presentation in 2022 that Starfield would be the best MMO that isn’t one at all.
The probability of a multiplayer mod is pretty big. Suitable mods can be found for The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and Fallout 4 and it should only be a matter of time before dedicated modders build something for Starfield.
But you have to wait for the release, which is possible with Starfield modding.
Could a multiplayer mode be added later? There is currently no indication that multiplayer will be coming to Starfield in later expansions. The first story expansion has already been announced with the DLC “Shattered Space”.
