Starfield: Editions Compared – Prices and Early Access

Starfield: Gameplay – What can you do in Starfield?

Starfield is a massive action RPG from the makers of Fallout and The Elder Scrolls. It’s meant to be a typical Bethesda game, and if you’ve played Fallout 4 or The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, you can think along those lines – but all with a heavy dose of science fiction.

The universe is open to you and you are challenged to discover its secrets. Starfield offers over 1,000 planets to visit, a good 10% of which are also inhabited by life forms.

Many planets and environments are procedurally generated, so they were created randomly. However, the developers, in the person of Todd Howard, emphasize that Starfield still has the most handcrafted areas of all previous Bethesda titles.

There should be something to discover around every corner. You can catalog alien creatures, find upgrades for your weapons or ships, experience strange quests, or just strictly follow the main story. Similar to Skyrim or Fallout 4, you decide which direction to go after launch.

There will be one big main story that will be around 20% longer than any previous Bethesda title. This should take around 30 to 40 hours if you follow the story closely without getting distracted. However, those responsible did not want to commit themselves completely.

Apart from that, there are still a lot more stories and adventures to experience. More than 250,000 lines of dialogue have already been confirmed and there should also be a complete localization in the German language.

Again, Bethasda throws the well-known superlatives and praises the character editor as … the greatest of all Bethesda games so far. Apart from that, there is an extensive skill system with apparently more than 60 selectable properties from 5 categories: physical, social, combat, science and technology.

The skills not only help you in combat, but can also greatly influence your career in the game. With the selection of your “Background” you determined your previous history and receive the corresponding skills right at the start.

You can choose how you want to play Starfield. Here Bethesda follows its traditions and would like to offer you numerous freedoms. You can trade, smuggle, fight, explore, just talk to people and help them, or become the scourge of the galaxy. Go your own way or let yourself drift.

One of the biggest features is ship building. You can assemble ships yourself, select modules with appropriate functions and create crazy constructions. The ships can probably be up to 1.5 football fields in size. You can enter the ships, fly them and expand them into your spaceman’s home.

You are not alone in this. You can recruit crew members from anywhere in the world of Starfield. Some are also companions who support you on your travels. Others are purely crew members who do not leave the ship.

We’ll be adding more info on what to do in Starfield over time. Keep checking back. A few more interesting details can be found here:
