However, one example has never really changed in the negative opinion of the community: the Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978 is generally regarded as a hair-raising catastrophe. Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill apparently knew that before filming started.

As he revealed in a 2013 fan discussion on Reddit, he was never sold on the idea of a Christmas special for Star Wars fans.
I knew from the start it was a mistake. But [Star Wars-Schöpfer] George Lucas said that’s how Star Wars stays in people’s minds. I wanted to be a team player, so I went along with it. I also felt that Luke wasn’t supposed to sing, so they cut that part out.

Some fans will now lust after Luke Skywalker’s vocal performance. Others may still feel the Holiday Special as a traumatic experience. The film is not stingy with bizarre ideas, including, for example Chewbacca’s wife watching a cooking show. There are several questionable musical numbers. The curiosity has not yet been streamed on Disney + or any other platform.
